Monday Mashup: Finishing another Round of the 21 Day Fix
Hello friends!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
It was Sean's birthday yesterday, so we did a little bit of celebrating, but stayed healthy for the most part. He's not a fan of cake {crazy, right?!}, so I treated him to two things I absolutely forbid in our home: cow's milk and Oreos. Needless to say, he was super stoked!
He also requested his all-time favorite cuisine for dinner: Thai. Fun fact: we love Thai food so much that we actually traveled 19+ hours to Thailand a few years ago. If you're wondering how we choose our travel destinations, it comes down to one thing: food!
Here's some food porn from that trip:
Anyway, back to this weekend...
We both kept it healthy and ordered Pad Ka-Prao, which is ground chicken or pork, sautéed with bell peppers, green beens, and thai basil. That delicious combo is topped with a sunny-side up egg and served with jasmine rice. It's definitely lighter Thai fair since it's free of coconut milk, duck, and other fattier additions.
We're actually making our own version of Pad Ka-Prao this week so stay tuned for our recipe!
Our last week of the 21 Day Fix:
Yay, we're almost finished with another round of our favorite program!
Yes, the 21 Day Fix workouts and nutrition program are safe for pregnant ladies! And here's a little history for you: I knew I wanted to get pregnant in May, so we did the 21 Day Fix Extreme for a few months beforehand to get in optimal shape. I knew that whatever exercise you did before getting pregnant could be continued throughout the pregnancy. However, the 21 Day Fix Extreme is a little too extreme, so I switched back to the regular and give it my all.
After last Friday's cardio workout, I had a little pelvic pain and asked my doctor about it (secretly hoping she'd tell me to avoid jumping and planking and mountain climbing)...but she said that was normal (just ligaments stretching) and to keep going. So it looks like I'll be sticking with the Fix for a few more months.
A new workout is being released in December, called The Master's Hammer and Chisel. Autumn Calabrese (the creator of the 21 Day Fix) and Sagi Kalev (creator of Body Beast) teamed up to create this 60 day body sculpting program. So I'll probably switch to this program for the last two months of my pregnancy because I get bored easily and like to try new things.
(And no offense, Beachbody...but why do you have to make all your promo videos so cheesy?!)
So here's what's on the menu this week:
I'm creating almost all of the dinner recipes this week, so stay tuned for the deets!
Hope you have a fabulous week!
xoxo,
Ashly
